Smithers Gymnastics Senior Girls competitive progr

Smithers Gymnastics Senior Girls competitive program puts in the extra work to be excellent.

After a big summer of building strength, power, and work capacity, the girls are moving toward competitive preparation and refining their new skills into routines.

As such, we aim to enhance the necessary force production, absorption, and redistribution properties needed to successfully execute such advanced acrobatics, while ensuring appropriate recovery and self care is being attended to through a weekly program.

Here are a few snapshots of today's 1 hour training session before the girls hit the floor to begin routine preparations and specific skill transfer.

Through the vision and support of their coach @alisonmeganhudson, and the club leadership of @laracollingwood, our team at Titan Performance are able to support with a balance of performance, education, and health for all the athletes in the club.

Fall is here and the summer activities are winding

Fall is here and the summer activities are winding down. So NOW WHAT??

Come on out and try one of our Adult Fitness classes. Enjoy a professionally programmed session of strength and aerobic work to help you maximize your potential in all aspects of life.

Here is an example of what a typical day of the Power Hour might look like!

0-10min: Warm-Up

A general warm-up to increase your body temperature and breathing rate to make sure all of your body's tissues are ready for the day.

10-20min: Specific Warm-Up

This portion is designed to prepare your joints through the ranges needed for the upcoming movements.

20-35min: Strength

This will depend day to day but an example is a Front Squat where you will do 3-5 sets of 6 reps at a 6/10 effort level. We program our strength work in 4-8 week cycles to allow you to slowly build over time. Our coaches have great eyes for movement flaws and will cue you for technique corrections!

35-50min: Circuit

This will include some sort of circuit where you will work on “Cardio” or “Aerobic/Anaerobic”. This will vary day to day but a great example is:

12:00 Running Clock

200m Row

4 Lengths Farmers Walk

4 Lengths Sled Push

50-60min: Cooldown

We will make sure to reset your system so you are back in a rest/relaxation state before you continue on with your day. This will include foam rolling, breathwork and stretching/mobility exercises.

My name is Tanya Pottinger, I am a single mom of two girls, work fulltime, and run a small side business. I started my fitness journey at Titan Performance with my coach, Riley Coish, 4 months ago. My desire to seek professional help came from a realization of how I perceived my physical fitness was affecting my mental health. I was at a point where my body was always hurting, exhausted all the time, and I felt weak. I did not like what I saw in the mirror, I did not like my experience in gyms so far, so I wasn't sure how to get myself to follow through with my goals. I needed a change, I was incapable of making it on my own; not for lack of trying. I was incapable of committing to a self-developed fitness program for an endless number of excuses; I am sure many people can relate. A friend told me to consider pursuing a personal trainer, so I did just that.
It is hard to be concise yet accurately portray what a profound effect this experience has had on my life. It has now been about four months and I am so glad I made that choice to contact Riley. Taking the plunge and investing in myself through PT sessions with a gym membership at Jamie's facility was the best choice I have made in a long time. I am in the best shape of my life thanks to my coach and the drive that this program has instilled in me with the incredibly personalized program that he continues push me. This experience has not only helped me to get in shape, feel good inside and out, and to see noticeable results, it has helped me establish and maintain healthy habits daily, while setting a positive example for my daughters. I wake up happy, full of energy, and excited for my next workout. I am excited to walk through those doors, whereas before I was nervous. I am excited to push myself and see what I can do being guided safely by knowledgeable people that provide a friendly environment to workout in. If you are like me and cannot commit to a self-developed program, have zero knowledge about working out, and you want to start doing better for you, I strongly recommend reaching out to the amazing people at Titan Performance.
